The global pandemic, hybrid/remote work, and the Great Resignation created challenges for companies. To boost employee retention and engagement, as well as optimize their workforce, companies have begun to place a greater emphasis on employee skills as well as mental wellbeing.

What impact can an emphasis on skills have on companies? What role can technologies such as AI play? How can companies become skills-based meritocracies? How will the shift towards skills impact the global workforce? Carlos Gutierrez will share his insights on these pressing questions.

Dr Smith will then share a case study about a 2,000+ workforce within an NHS Trust. Various challenges were identified as contributing to poor patient outcomes, including fragmented teams as a consequence of different working environments (hybrid, community, hospital-based). She will share the solution which used a behaviour change approach (COM-B) from board level to administrative staff. Following the intervention, the Trust reported an increase in psychological safety across teams and a reduction in mental health symptoms and there was also an improvement in culture and working environment.
