Cyber security – Interserve case study

Alan Lovell and Julia Warrack will be talking about a severe cyber-attack suffered by Interserve Group Limited in May 2020, a ransomware attack by a foreign party, which severely impacted the operations of the business over a prolonged period. The case has still not been settled by the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) after nearly two years.

Alan is Chair of Interserve Group Limited, Safestyle plc and Progressive Energy; and Senior Independent Director of SIG plc. Earlier in his career, he was Chair of the Consumer Council for Water and Chief Executive of four companies, including Costain and Jarvis, in need of rescue and turnaround; and then of two renewable energy companies.

In the not-for-profit world, Alan is Chair of the Hampshire Cultural Trust, which runs 23 arts centres and museums. He was until recently chair of the Governors of the University of Winchester and of the Mary Rose.
